Volunteer Open House 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Meet our dedicated people and learn about working in an environment where we value your skills, creative talents and contributions.

Poetica Musica: Along the Danube 8:00 pm  Chamber Ensemble Poetica Musica will perform works by Schubert, Beethoven, Bartok and Schumann.  At 6:45 pm, join a guided tour of the Gardens or Westbury House; 7:30 pm, pre-concert talk. A Meet-the-Artists reception will follow the concert. Registration and pre-payment required. $25; $20 Members, Seniors & Students w/ID.

Dog Days Bring your dog for an invigorating walk and healthy exercise at Old Westbury Gardens.  Designated garden areas only. Dog must be leashed.

Dog Demonstration & Exhibits 11:00 am - 3:00 pm The Ladies Kennel Association of America will sponsor various activities, demonstrations and games.

  • The LKAA will administer the Canine Good Citizen Program, is a certification program designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

  • Long Island Agility will be on hand to demonstrate the fun sport of dog agility. In agility, a dog demonstrates is agile nature and versatility by following cues from the handler through a timed obstacle course. The course has jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and other obstacles.

Plein Air Oil Painting 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Saturdays, April 26 - May 17 En plein, “in the open air,” describes the act of painting outside rather than indoors. Learn this technique with Pratt Institute's Art Instructor Bart Deceglie. Open to painters at all levels of experience. Class size is limited so register early. Registration & pre-payment required. $55.00 per class; $40.00 members; $200 (series of 4 classes), $150 members.

Arbor Day Tree Dedication Ceremony 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Join family and friends who have contributed to the Tree Funds to dedicate a series of Green Mountain Sugar Maples in memory or in honor of loved ones. An annual Arbor Day tradition.  Rain or shine.

Talk & Tour: Tree Walk 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Celebrate Arbor Day with Master Gardener and docent Gene Lanzaro. Explore the Gardens’ magnificent collection of trees, from formal allées to new growth woodlands.

Books in the Ballroom: Harbor Hill— Portrait of a House 2:30 pm  Among the varied country houses built on Long Island in the early 20th century, few rivaled the scope and grandeur of Harbor Hill. From his newly-published book, architectural historian and noted lecturer Richard Guy Wilson presents the story of Harbor Hill not only through its design, construction, furnishings, and environs, but also through the lives of its owners. Sponsored by Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities.
