Gardens’ horticulturists along with members of various plant societies and Nassau County Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will be on hand to help you select the right plants and answer your questions.

Yoga Workshop Every Thursday, 11:00 am - 12:15 pm Why train in a stuffy gym when you can exercise alongside nature in the awe-inspiring gardens?  Professional Kripalu Yoga instructor, Lorili Henry, will lead students through a dynamic, yet gentle, continuous flow of postures and conscious breathing.  Students are encouraged to work at their own pace.  There is no better way to relax in the Gardens!  Registration required.  $15 per session; $5 members (weather permitting, includes Gardens admission).  Participants must bring a yoga mat, yoga strap and towel.

Plein Air Oil Painting 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Saturdays, April 26 - May 17 En plein, “in the open air,” describes the act of painting outside rather than indoors. Learn this technique with Pratt Institute's Art Instructor Bart Deceglie. Open to painters at all levels of experience. Class size is limited so register early. Registration & pre-payment required. $55.00 per class; $40.00 members; $200 (series of 4 classes), $150 members.

Floral Design 10:30 am - 12:30 pm Join Scott Lucas, Cut Garden Supervisor and Westbury House’s floral arranger, for a hands-on workshop exploring design principals of cut flower arrangements. Fee includes all plant materials and container that participants will take home for continued enjoyment. Beginners are welcome. Class size is limited so register early. Registration and prepayment required. $35.00, $25.00 members.

Talk & Tour: Demonstration Gardens 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Opened to the public in 1969 to inspire the home gardener, these gardens have since been regularly replanted and re-envisioned since. Tour the newly renovated Grey and Vegetable Gardens and learn hints for your own home gardens.

Flute Recital 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Bart Feller, Principal Flute of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the New York City Opera with Linda Mark, piano and Patricia Blackman Dunn, flute will perform in the Red Ballroom.  Featured are works by Bach, Burton, Carter, Doppler, Karg-Elert, Martin and Reinecke.  Sponsored by the Long Island Flute Ensemble (click HERE to download flier)

Much of tai chi is practiced slowly and gently, ideal for people of all ages and health conditions. Its fluid movements are based on movements in nature, which makes Old Westbury Gardens for sessions. Sessions taught by Linda Cafiero are designed for all experience levels. Poetica Musica: Three plus Three 8:00 pm  Chamber Ensamble Poetica Musica will perform Trios by Schubert and Mendelssohn.  At 6:45 pm, join a guided tour of the Gardens or Westbury House; 7:30 pm, pre-concert talk. A wonderful learning experience for children eight and under, combining classical music, and valuable lessons in a fun-filled one-hour program.
