Dog Days
Bring your dog for an invigorating walk and
healthy exercise at Old Westbury Gardens. Designated garden
areas. Dogs must be leashed. April 19 & 20.
Dog Games, Demonstrations & Exhibits
The Ladies Kennel Association of America
will sponsor various activities, demonstrations and games -
11:00 am–3:00 pm, April 19.

The LKAA
will administer the Canine Good Citizen Program, is a
certification program designed to reward dogs who have good
manners at home and in the community. The
Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that
stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good
manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may
receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

Long Island Agility
will be on hand to demonstrate the fun sport of dog agility.
In agility, a dog demonstrates is agile nature and
versatility by following cues from the handler through a
timed obstacle course. The course has jumps, tunnels, weave
poles, and other obstacles.

Kimberly Mockler will demonstrate
communication with deaf dogs, deaf/blind dogs, including
the use of American Sign Language to train dogs.

Books in the Ballroom: Harbor Hill— Portrait of a
House
Among the varied country houses built on Long
Island in the early 20th century, few rivaled the scope and
grandeur of Harbor Hill. From his newly-published book,
architectural historian and noted lecturer Richard Guy Wilson
presents the story of Harbor Hill not only through its design,
construction, furnishings, and environs, but also through the
lives of its owners. 2:30 pm, April 27. Sponsored by Society for
the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities.
Arbor Day Tree Dedication Ceremony
Join family and friends, who have contributed to
the Tree Funds in memory of loved ones, to dedicate a new tree
planting. 1:00 pm, April 27.
Spring Plant Sale and Gardening Weekend
Purchase select annuals and perennials, including
the Gardens’ signature varieties. Not sure about what plants are
right for your landscape? The Gardens’ horticulturalists along
with members of various plant societies and Master Gardeners
from Cornell Cooperative Extension Nassau County will be on hand
to help you select the right plants and answer your questions.

Orchard Hill Designer Showhouse at Old Westbury
Gardens
May 3–June 15, open daily 10:00 am–5:00 pm, last
admission 4:00 pm.
Leading designers and decorative artists turn
Orchard Hill, the residence of the late Peggie Phipps Boegner,
into a decorating masterpiece in the gracious traditional manner
of the house itself.
Showhouse Admission $30 (includes admission to
the Gardens and Westbury House); $20 Old Westbury Gardens
Members. Children under six, infants, strollers and pets are not
allowed in the Showhouse.

Porsche on View
Mid-1950’s to top current model Porsches will be

Old Westbury Horsemen’s Foundation Day
The annual gathering of the Foundation with
equine demonstrations. 12–3pm, June 15.
Antique and Collectible Car Show
The most elegant antique auto show on Long
Island, sponsored by Greater New York Region, Antique Automobile
Club of America. This year honors the 100th anniversary of the
Model T. 9:00 am–3:00 pm. June 1, rain date June 8.
Spring Garden Tea
Spend a gracious afternoon at the Gardens. After
a seasonal guided tour enjoy an elegant outdoor tea.
Registration and prepayment required. $35; $30 members. 2:00 pm
– 4:30 pm, June 21 (rain date June 28).
Twilight Garden Walk
The colorful formal gardens of Westbury House are
the perfect setting for a romantic escape. A landscape tour
concludes on the South Terrace with seasonal desserts and music
at sunset. Registration and prepayment required. $16. $14
members. 6:30 pm, June 20.
