Historical Dancing
Demonstrations - All Weekend -
This troupe of Terpsichore revivalists brings 18th
century dance back to life, costumed in period garb.
Audience participation welcome.
Fencing Demonstration
- All Weekend -
The gentlemen of Mozart’s day knew how to defend their
honor when challenged to a duel. The North Shore Fencing
Club will provide a brief historic perspective on the
sport of fencing, followed by a demonstration of
contemporary techniques. Director: Vladimir Gofman.
Mozart Dice Game -
All Weekend -
“Musikalisches Würfelspiel” or
musical dice. Mozart might have created this musical
game of chance in 1787. Players become composers by
tossing a pair of dice to determine each musical note.
Musical-dice specialist Rebecca Arkenberg conducts guest
musicians using her specially-designed game board,
fleshing out the harmonies and continuo. Result: Minuet
a la Mozart. Participants can take home a copy of their
eight-bar composition.
Traditional Puppet Mastery - Punch 'N Judy -
Saturday and Monday Only -
Master puppeteer Fred Greenspan provides an historic
overview before each show, then wows kids and families
with the sometimes sweet, sometimes raucous doings of
puppets based on characters from medieval Europe.
Garden Tours - All
Weekend -
Old Westbury Garden volunteers lead 45-minute tours of
Westbury House and the gardens. House tours, on the hour
and half-hour, narrate the history contained in 16
remarkable rooms. Garden tours, at 11am, 1:30pm, and
5:30pm, guide visitors through the Boxwood Garden,
Primrose Path, Cottage Garden, Rose Garden, Walled
Garden, and Lilac Path.
Carriage Rides -
All Weekend -
Climb aboard a horse and carriage to see a grand view of
Westbury House for its Beech Tree Allee.
Children's Activities

Antoinette, or receive free face painting or try your
