Gardens sharing selections of poetry that were inspired
by the beauty and drama of the natural world. July 6;

Join Master Gardener & docent Dan Mahony to tour the
daylily gardens and discuss the development of modern
hybrid daylilies and the best cultivars for growing on
Long Island.

Explore the ancient symbolism and sacred storied
associated with these beautiful plants. Master Gardener
& docent Barbara Levine will compare and contrast flora

Learn about the subtle glories of plants that thrive in the
shade. Master Gardener and docent Barbara Levine shows plants
perfect for those shaded areas around your home. August 3; 2:00

The Formal
English Garden

Master Gardener and docent Gene Lanzaro
will explore 17th and 18th century formal garden
elements and their influence on Old Westbury Gardens.

Color in the Summer Garden

It’s not too late to catch the beautiful explosion of
color in the Walled Garden with Master Gardener and
docent Dan Mahony. The brick walls help to maintain
warmth, allowing for extended bloom and delight for our

Late Summer in the Garden

Garden in all of its color and splendor. Join Master
Gardener and docent Barbara Frank as she points out the
highlights of this garden in late summer. August 31;

Butterflies in the Garden --
An interactive tour about Long Island butterflies
and what plants attract them. Butterfly plants must be colorful
& fragrant, but did you know that the shape of the plant is also
important? Join docent Patty Sullivan as she takes you on a tour
through the grounds to point out plants that both attract
butterflies and feed their larvae. Rain or shine. September 14; 2:00

Sundials, Follies and Greek Gods
-- Join docent and Master Gardener Gene Lanzaro as he explores the Gardens seeking out Greek
statues, follies and sundials and tells the tales of
their legends and myths. September 21; 2:00 pm.
Splendors of the Autumn Garden
-- Join Master Gardener Barbara Levine to
discover all that the autumn garden has to offer,
including fall foliage, Chrysanthemum, Dahlias and
