Kids and Family Programs: Garden Explorers 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm (Fridays, May 14 - June 18) Through fun and creative hands-on activities, children will learn about plants and animals native to Long Island. Session I (6 classes, May–June) will focus on botany, covering topics such as seeds, sprouts, flowers and seasonal changes. Session II (July–Aug.) will emphasize wildlife. The program is designed for ages 6–12. Each class includes a lesson on ecology, botany, or biology, a hike and other educational activities. Registration required, please call (516) 333-0048 Ext. 301. $10 per class, $5 for members. All 6 classes per session $50.00,  $25.00 for members. Includes accompanying adult.

Everybody Loves Roses Session I - 10:00 am, Session II - 1:00 pm Meet with Ann Marie Zawistowski, the Old Westbury Gardens rosarian, during the peak rose blooming time as she discusses rose types, designing with roses, organic and traditional rose care, pruning, deadheading and maintenance in a two-session presentation.
Rose Tour and Talk Session I: Design 10:00 am Session I is an informational talk and tour of the roses at Old Westbury Gardens, highlighting the different classes of roses grown and their individual characteristics. Learn about hybrid teas, grandifloras, floribundas, old garden roses, climbing roses, English roses, and many more. Design suggestions and exploring which classes are right for your garden will be discussed. Rose Tour and Talk Session II: Care
1:00 pm Session II is an informational talk and tour of the roses at Old Westbury Gardens highlighting rose care. Learn about organic and traditional rose care, pruning, deadheading, and maintenance. Learn about different methods of training roses and proper site selection. Please bring gloves and pruners to participate in a demonstration of dead heading.

Suzuki on the Island Concert 2:00 pm Students perform on stringed instruments in a Cello and Violin group festival.
