DESCRIPTION:Art\, Workshops\n\n\n\n\nOld Westbury Gardens\, in association with the Leila Heller Gallery\, is proud to present\n\n\n\nIn Situ: The Works of John Clement at Old Westbury Gardens\n\n\n\nThis striking outdoor exhibition features seven (7) of artist John Clement’s dynamic steel and aluminum sculptures installed in the Gardens\, inviting visitors to encounter art and landscape in dialogue. \n\n\n\nOn view through October 31\, the works transform familiar vistas with sweeping curves and bold forms that shift with light and perspective. \n\n\n\nThe sculptures are located on the path leading into and around the Primrose Path and by the Thatched Cottage. \n\n\n\nTogether\, the works enrich the visitor experience\, adding a striking new dimension to the beauty of Old Westbury Gardens. \n\n\n\nThis exhibition is included with admission. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ARTIST \n\n\n\nJohn Clement (b.1969\, USA) is a New York-based sculptor known for his bold\, curvilinear steel works that transform industrial materials into playful\, dynamic forms. A former apprentice to sculptors Mark di Suvero and John Henry\, Clement carries forward the Constructivist tradition with a distinctive vocabulary of looping\, arcing lines that evoke energy\, movement\, and joy. \n\n\n\nHe studied at the University of Pennsylvania and the School of Visual Arts before establishing his own practice in the 1990s. Working primarily with steel and aluminum pipe\, Clement bends\, welds\, and paints each piece by hand\, ranging from intimate tabletop works to monumental public sculptures installed across the U.S. and the globe. \n\n\n\nHis work has been exhibited widely\, including solo shows at Leila Heller Gallery and group exhibitions at institutions such as KANEKO.
