DESCRIPTION:Music\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for an evening of romantic and electrifying music with Poetica Musica’s concert\, “Preludes.” \n\n\n\nCelebrated pianist Hayk Arsenyan will perform Chopin’s complete cycle of 24 Preludes\, Op. 28\, alongside selected preludes from Rachmaninoff’s Op. 32. \n\n\n\nChopin’s 24 Preludes\, Op. 28\, are a set of short pieces inspired by Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier\, each written in a different key to explore all 24 keys on the keyboard. Composed in 1839\, they were not performed until 1876\, 25 years after Chopin’s death. Today\, they are a favorite of pianists for their virtuosity\, emotional depth\, and exquisite beauty. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ARTIST \n\n\n\n\n\nNew York-based pianist and composer Dr. Hayk Arsenyan has appeared in worldwide venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York)\, Salle Cortot (Paris)\, the Concourse (Sydney)\, Cadillac-Shanghai Concert Hall (China)\, Kumin Hall (Tokyo)\, Tchaikovsky Hall (Moscow)\, and televised recitals at the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago\, the Phillips Collection Series in Washington DC and at the Nixon Presidential Museum in Los Angeles. Mr. Arsenyan made his debut at the Armenian Philharmonic. He made his European debut with the Radio France National Philharmonic Orchestra and was awarded a platinum medal by the City of Paris. Mr. Arsenyan debuted at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall. He has presented guest lectures and masterclasses at  Waseda University Superior Conservatory of Seville the Manhattan School of Music\, University of Texas in Austin\, and National Conservatory in Damascus. \n\n\n\n\n\nHayk Arsenyan\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Arsenyan is a scholar of Iberian 18th-century music and compiled a performance guide to Antonio Soler’s sonatas and was published by Boileau Editorial de Musica in Barcelona. DESCRIPTION:Music\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for an evening of romantic and beautiful music as Poetica Musica and Old Westbury Gardens present Romantic Rendezvous in the intimate and elegant Red Ballroom of Westbury House. \n\n\n\nRenowned pianists Javor Bračić and Angelina Gadeliya make their series debut\, performing solo and duo piano works by Chopin\, Schubert\, Fauré\, Barber\, and others. \n\n\n\nThe program includes Sonata in A minor by Franz Schubert\, Dolly Suite for piano four hands by Gabriel Fauré\, Rondo\, Op. 5 by Frédéric Chopin\, Souvenirs for piano four hands by Samuel Barber\, and Crimean Sketches for solo piano by Serhii Bortkiewicz. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Artists: \n\n\n\n\n\nCroatian pianist Javor Bračić was praised by New York Concert Review for his “deep\, genuine musicianship and outstanding technique” at his Carnegie Hall debut recital. He has performed widely throughout Europe and the United States\, as well as in China\, Ecuador\, Chile\, and South Africa. His performances have been broadcast on WQXR’s McGraw Hill Young Artists Showcase\, and his debut CD\, Tribute to Haydn\, was released by Labor Records. Bračić is a first-prize winner of several international piano competitions\, including Luigia Stramesi and Città di Minerbio (Italy)\, Les Rencontres des Jeunes Pianistes (Belgium)\, the Zlatko Grgošević Competition (Croatia)\, and the New York Concert Artists’ Carnegie Recital Debut Audition. \n\n\n\n\n\nJavor Bračić\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUkrainian-American pianist Angelina Gadeliya leads a rich musical life as a soloist\, chamber musician\, new music specialist\, and educator. Her work with the NYC-based Decoda ensemble has brought her frequently to the stages of Carnegie Hall and the Juilliard School\, as well as to venues in Germany\, South Korea\, Abu Dhabi\, and across the United States\, including Princeton University\, Vassar College\, and Trinity Wall Street. The Poetica Musica Quartet will perform a captivating program featuring works by Ravel\, Mendelssohn\, and Dvořák. \n\n\n\nThe ensemble includes Eric Wyrick\, violin; Eugene Moye\, cello; and guest artists Janey Choi\, violin; and Michael Roth\, viola.  \n\n\n\nThe program features String Quartet No. 12 in F Major\, Op. 96 (“American”) by Antonín Dvořák; String Quartet in F Major\, M.35 by Maurice Ravel; and String Quartet No. 1 in E-flat Major\, Op. 12 by Felix Mendelssohn. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ARTISTS \n\n\n\n\n\nERIC WYRICK\, violinist\, is Concertmaster of the New Jersey Symphony and a former member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist with the NJS\, he has performed the Schumann\, Strauss\, and Busoni violin concertos\, and has led performances of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. His collaborations include contemporary composers Darryl Kubian and Steve Mackey\, and a revival of Princeton’s Edward T. Cone’s Violin Concerto. During the COVID period\, he produced several solo and NJSO-presented recordings for streaming. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJANEY CHOI\, violin\, made her Carnegie Hall recital debut as a winner of the Artists International Auditions. A recipient of numerous honors\, including First Prize in the Canadian Music Competition and the Chalmers Performing Arts Grant\, she has appeared at festivals including Mostly Mozart\, Norfolk\, Taos\, Bar Harbor\, Spoleto\, Santo Domingo\, Santa Fe\, and Sarasota. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMICHAEL ROTH\, viola\, is Associate Concertmaster of the New York City Ballet Orchestra and appears regularly as both a chamber musician and soloist. He performs with the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra and has appeared with the Westchester Philharmonic\, American Composers Orchestra\, and New York Pops. He has served as concertmaster at the Vermont Mozart Festival\, Caramoor\, and Bard\, and has toured internationally with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEUGENE MOYE\, cello\, was described by The New York Times as one of the “foremost cellists of his generation.” He is principal cellist of the Westchester Philharmonic\, American Symphony Orchestra\, American Composers Orchestra\, and Opera Orchestra of New York\, and has been a member of the New York City Ballet Orchestra since 1972. He has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera Chamber Players\, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center\, and New York Philharmonic\, and performs internationally at guitar and contemporary music festivals. \n\n\n\nHe is founder of the Cygnus Ensemble\, which has toured internationally and served as ensemble-in-residence at the Library of Congress. With Cygnus\, he co-created Sounding Beckett at Classic Stage Company in New York. \n\n\n\nAnderson is Artistic Director of the Roger Shapiro Fund and Marsyas Productions and teaches guitar at Sarah Lawrence College and Queens College. His works are recorded on Bridge Records and Furious Artisans. \n\n\n\n\n\nWilliam Anderson\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBARRY J. CRAWFORD is a flutist performing with Poetica Musica\, Ensemble Pi\, and Sedna Winds. DESCRIPTION:Music\n\n\n\n\nExperience the rich\, expressive tones of the cello as Poetica Musica presents “The Song of the Cello.” \n\n\n\nRenowned cellist Eugene Moye joins pianist Yasmin Alami for an evening of masterful performances featuring works by Brahms\, Casals\, Rachmaninoff\, Mendelssohn\, and others. \n\n\n\nThe program includes Johannes Brahms’ Cello Sonata No. 1 in E Minor\, Op. 38\, Pablo Casals’ “The Song of the Birds\,” Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Vocalise\,” and additional selections celebrating the depth\, warmth\, and versatility of this beloved instrument. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ARTISTS: \n\n\n\n\n\nEugene Moye\, cellist\, is principal cello of the American Symphony Orchestra\, the American Composers Orchestra\, the Opera Orchestra of New York\, and the Westchester Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist\, he has premiered a cello concerto by François Thorne at Carnegie Hall\, the “Millennium Concerto” by Harold Farberman at Avery Fisher Hall\, and a concerto by David Baker with the New York Philharmonic. \n\n\n\nFollowing his recital at the 92nd Street Y\, The New York Times praised Moye as one of the “foremost cellists of his generation.” In addition to his classical career\, he has collaborated with many of the world’s leading popular artists\, including Ricky Martin\, Michael Jackson\, Britney Spears\, Tony Bennett\, Garth Brooks\, and KISS on recordings\, live performances\, and videos. \n\n\n\n\n\nEugene Moye\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYasmin Alami\, a Jordanian pianist\, has been described as a “truly remarkable and extremely musical young pianist” by renowned pianist and conductor Philippe Entremont. \n\n\n\nShe has performed extensively in the United States\, Europe\, and the Middle East\, appearing with the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music Series\, St. Roch for the Arts Series\, Benderly Concert Series–Santa Cruz Foundation of the Arts\, Friends of Jordan Piano Festival\, and the Palm Beach Atlantic International Piano Festival. Her international engagements include performances in Jordan\, Belgium\, Portugal\, and France\, including a private recital honoring Her Royal Highness Princess Wijdan Ali. \n\n\n\nAlami was awarded first prize as a soloist at the Concours Régional d’Orléans in France. \n\n\n\n\n\nYasmin Alami\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets & Information\n\n\n\nA pre-concert talk will proceed the concert at 7:30pm. DESCRIPTION:Music\n\n\n\n\nThe Long Island Flute Club Holiday Flute Choir presents an hour-long concert of holiday carols and seasonal favorites. \n\n\n\nThe flute choir\, which has performed at Old Westbury Gardens since 2007\, consists of professional and adult amateur flutists from across Long Island. The choir is under the direction of flutist and Old Westbury Gardens docent Lauren Osnato. \n\n\n\nSeating is limited; please arrive early to ensure entrance to the concert.
