DIRECTIONS


Old Westbury Gardens is located at 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury, New York, between the Long Island Expressway (I-495) and Jericho Turnpike (New York Route 25), approximately 20 miles east of New York City.

BY CAR

FROM THE WEST

From the Long Island Expressway: Take the LIE (I-495) to Exit 39 (Glen Cove Road). Follow the service road east for approximately 1.1 miles, turn right onto Old Westbury Road and continue 0.4 miles.  The Gardens' gate is on the left.

From the Northern State Expressway: Take the Northern State to Exit 32 (Post Avenue).  Bear left at the end of the exit ramp and turn left onto Post Avenue heading north.  Turn left onto Jericho Turnpike (Route 25) and turn right at the first light onto Old Westbury Road.  The Gardens' gate is on the right. 

FROM THE EAST

From the Long Island Expressway: Take the LIE (I-495) to Exit 39. Turn left onto Glen Cove Road (Garden City) at the end of the exit ramp, cross over the expressway and immediately turn left onto the service road. Follow the service road east for approximately 1.1 miles, turn right onto Old Westbury Road and continue 0.4 miles. The Gardens' gate is on the left. 

From the Northern State Parkway: Take the Northern State to Exit 32 (Post Avenue). Turn right at the end of the exit ramp (Old Westbury) onto Post Avenue heading north. Turn left onto Jericho Turnpike (Route 25) and turn right at the first light onto Old Westbury Road. The Gardens' gate is on the right.

BY BUS OR TRUCK

All buses, trucks and deliveries must enter on 60 Post Road.

BY TRAIN

FROM PENNSYLVANIA STATION, NEW YORK CITY

Take the Long Island Rail Road to Westbury Station, then a taxi to Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road (approximately 2.5 miles from the station). 

 
 

ACCESSIBILITY 

 


At this time Westbury House is not wheelchair accessible. The unpaved gravel pathways through the gardens are not wheelchair accessible. Special parking is available for guests with state-issued handicap parking permits. 

Guests should furnish their own wheelchairs and strollers.
Strollers are not permitted in Westbury House.

GUIDELINES

 


Old Westbury Gardens encourages its guests to take casual, vacation-style snapshots and nature photographs and videos for their own personal use. However, personal photographs and videos may not be used for commercial purposes. Personal photography is not be sold or used for brand or personal marketing.

Photography must not interfere with the enjoyment of Old Westbury Gardens’ other guests. The use of tripods, drones, props, costumes, photography reflectors, and clothing changes are strictly forbidden.

These photography guidelines are intended for all guests, but a photography permit is necessary for those who wish to use the Gardens for large groups, commercial and portrait photography.

All who wish to use Old Westbury Gardens as a backdrop/setting for portrait and special occasion photography, must request and obtain a photography permit, even if the photographer is not a professional,

Portrait and special occasion photography are defined as, but not limited to: senior, engagement, professional head shots, family, graduation, wedding, etc. Portrait or commercial photography is by appointment only.

 DISCOUNT & COMPLIMENTARY ADMISSIONS

 


Old Westbury Gardens participates in several national and regional discount programs. These include the AHS’ Reciprocal Admissions Program, NEA’s Blue Star Museum program, and THIRTEEN Membercard.

Please note the following policies for discounted or complimentary admission for these programs: 

  • Use of these discounts require advance tickets. American Horticultural Society’s Reciprocal Admissions Program (please include an image of your valid membership card) and Blue Star Museum visitors must reserve tickets at least one day in advance, please contact: tickets@oldwestburygardens.org

  • We will honor the discount for daytime general admission to the house and grounds, on any day that we are open within the period expressed in the respective discount program, except as follows:

  • We will not honor the discount for evening events, for any event or program for which pre-registration or advanced tickets are required, for events for which additional fees other than general admission are otherwise charged, or for any events for which the general admission to Old Westbury Gardens is higher than would normally be the case.

  • Some of the Entertainment.com coupons may indicate Valid Anytime. This is interpreted as meaning to be valid anytime the visitor would be paying regular admission to the house and grounds if not for the coupon.
