Garden Days is a fun weekend of events to celebrate the joy of gardening. This year’s event features a weekend-long plant sale featuring perennials grown on Long Island and includes the Gardens’ signature plants. The weekend also features in-depth tours by the Gardens’ renowned horticultural staff as well as other fun activities!


Friday, May 31- PLANT SALE PREVIEW PARTY!

Opportunity for first selection of plants curated by Maura McGoldrick-Brush, Horticulture Director of Old Westbury Gardens. The selection will feature hard-to-find perennials, as well as the Gardens’ signature plants. All plants offered for sale were grown on Long Island. Maura and other members of the horticultural staff will be on hand and available to offer selection advice and growing tips. Registration required.

Dinner and Desserts featuring Crepes and Bakes Food Truck

Wine, Beer, Soda, Iced tea 

Music by folk-flavored, acoustic roots artist Johnny Cuomo  

Specialty varieties of plants sold out quickly last year so don't miss out.

Fee: $60pp | $100 per couple | $10 children ages 7-17



Saturday, June 1 - Plant Sale, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

A selection of plants featuring hard-to-find perennials, and Gardens’ signature plants. All the plants for sale were grown on Long Island. Throughout the day, staff from the Gardens' Horticulture Department will be on-hand to assist in plant selection and growing tips.   

Members receive 20% off purchase at the plant sale. 

Fee: Access included with general admission.

Early-Bird Access, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. OWG Members have exclusive access to visit the plant sale and enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast.  


Saturday, June 1 - Floral Design for Kids, 10:00 a.m. 

Staff from the Horticulture Department of Old Westbury Gardens, will lead a 45-minute floral arranging class just for kids so they can explore their creative side. Fresh flowers will be used, and she will teach proper care and handling, water, and how to make sure your floral arrangement lasts and looks beautiful. She'll talk about flower names and some fun facts about each flower.

Most appropriate for ages 5-12. Registration is required and class size is limited so sign up early.

Fee: $30. Members receive a 20% discount. Fee includes ticket to Old Westbury Gardens for registrant and one (1) caregiver and all materials.


Saturday, June 1 - Floral Design Workshop (Adults), 10:15 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  

A one-hour, hands-on workshop led by Scott Lucas, Floral designer for Westbury House and Head Grower, who will guide you as you create a beautiful centerpiece for your home using fresh seasonal materials.  

Fee includes ticket to Old Westbury Gardens and all materials. 

Fee: $75. Members receive a 20% discount.


Saturday, June 1 - Off-the-Path Nature Walk, 11:00 a.m.  

Join Will Story, member of the Gardens' horticultural staff for a 45-minute walk through some of the naturalized woodland areas surrounding the formal gardens.  

Registration is required as space is limited. Included with your ticket are admission, guided walk, and reusable water bottle.

Fee: $20; $10 for members (registration required).  


Saturday, June 1 - Drop-in Kids’ Planting, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Kids can get their hands dirty as they participate in a take-home planting project.

Fee: Access included with general admission. No registration required.


Saturday, June 1 - Garden Tour, 1:00 p.m.

Participate in a guided tour led by a member of the Gardens' horticulture team, exploring the Walled Garden and surrounding areas. This "insider's tour" offers a deep dive into an exceptional herbaceous garden, highlighting its design principles, plant choices, and upkeep strategies. Your ticket includes entry, the guided tour, and a complimentary reusable water bottle.


Sunday, June 2 - Plant Sale, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
