Nature and Needlework to Celebrate 250 Years of Our Nation’s History

Learn basic embroidery stitches and make a small, embroidered design with the help of an instructor. All supplies are included, and participants take home their hoop and embroidered design. Enjoy a two-hour program inspired by stars, roses, and the quiet craft traditions of the 18th century.

In this session, you’ll create an embroidered design featuring 13 stars representing the original colonies arranged around a central rose, the national flower of the United States. We’ll share how botanical knowledge and embroidery were part of everyday life during the Revolutionary era, from decorative needlework to the practical uses of plants for dyes and remedies. You’ll learn basic embroidery stitches to complete your stars-and-rose hoop and leave with a handmade piece that reflects both nature and history while marking America’s 250th Anniversary.
