WESTBURY HIGH SCHOOL
“ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE”
Old Westbury Gardens welcomes over 2500 local students from the Westbury School District annually for complimentary visits thanks in part to our annual grant partnership. Despite the whirlwind of a year, the tradition continued in 2020/ 2021 when twenty five Pre AP and AP Art students, as well as Advanced Drawing and Painting students, visited our grounds for artistic inspiration amongst our 200 acres.
The results? Beautifully handcrafted artwork worthy of the finest gallery show. As in-person exhibits are currently in flux, we are delighted to showcase their talents right here on our virtual gallery page.
We extend our great thanks to Ms. Marcia Crayton & Ms. Brenda Bluestone of the Art Department at Westbury High School for their organization and attention to detail to make this show a reality this year.
Celebrating its twelfth year in 2020/ 2021, Old Westbury Garden’s Grant Partnership with the Westbury School District welcomes 2500 students annually from the Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 3rd grade, middle and high schools for complimentary seasonal visits to explore interactive lessons reinforcing current curriculum. Over 24,000 students have visited the Gardens since the partnership’s inception in 2008!
Just $250 sponsors a class of 25 Westbury School District students for on-site science, history and art education programs. These programs have been routinely evaluated by teachers as “invaluable” and “opportunities the students would not otherwise be afforded” proving integral to improved student academic achievements, mental health and wellness, and overall life enrichment.
