🌿 A new Secret Garden, reimagined.On Saturday, October 24 at 6pm, experience the world premiere staged reading of "Quite Contrary (a Secret Garden)" a nostalgic and unexpectedly funny new work by Long Island playwright Aly Kantor, inspired by Frances Hodgson Burnett’s "The Secret Garden."Set in Long Island, 1952, the story follows Mary Lennox, a young woman sent to a shuttered tuberculosis sanatorium for a “rest cure.” But the overgrown grounds and abandoned facility hold secrets—and Mary soon finds herself questioning the doctor’s orders and fighting to reclaim the future she deserves.Presented in the Red Ballroom of Westbury House, the immersive performance features full costumes, audio, six local performers—and one bird. 🐦Stay afterward for a panel discussion with the playwright, director, and cast, plus light refreshments.Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind theatrical experience celebrating Frances Hodgson Burnett and her Long Island roots.🎟️ Tickets are just $10!
