Poetica Musica: Contrast in Colors

Join us for an evening of rich harmonies and expressive tones as Poetica Musica presents a captivating program of chamber music and vocal works. The concert features music by Beethoven, Grieg, Loeillet, and Ravel, performed by an outstanding ensemble: cellist Eugene Moye, violinist Erik Wyrick, pianist Yasmin Alami, and mezzo-soprano Eleanor Valkenburg.

The evening begins with a pre-concert talk at 7:30 PM, and a reception will follow the performance.

Program Highlights:

  • Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 97 “Archduke” – Ludwig van Beethoven

  • Trio Sonata in B minor – Jean-Baptiste Loeillet de Gant

  • Violin Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45 – Edvard Grieg

  • Cinq Mélodies Populaires Grecques – Maurice Ravel

Beethoven’s iconic Archduke Trio, composed in 1811 and dedicated to his friend and patron Archduke Rudolf of Austria, remains a cornerstone of the piano trio repertoire and is performed worldwide.

This marks the first time Poetica Musica will perform this celebrated trio at Old Westbury Gardens.


Tickets & Information

A pre-concert talk will be held at 7:30 PM, and a reception on the West Porch will immediately follow the performance.

Fee: $30, general admission, $25, OWG members, seniors (62+), and students (with I.D.)
