Looking for a breathtaking backdrop for your wedding, engagement, or portrait session? Old Westbury Gardens offers an unforgettable setting for your most cherished memories.

All who wish to use Old Westbury Gardens as a backdrop/setting for wedding and/or portrait photography must obtain a permit since all permit holders are escorted by staff and there are insurance requirements. You can begin the process of obtaining a permit by completing the form at the bottom of this page.

Wedding/Portrait Photography Policy

Who Requires a Photography Permit?

Individuals or groups conducting staged photography sessions, including engagement photos, family portraits, wedding or bridal photography, quinceañeras, maternity shoots, senior portraits, professional headshots, and similar sessions.

A permit is required for any session involving:

  • A hired photographer
  • Additional equipment such as off-camera lighting, tripods, or reflectors
  • Staged photography sessions

Fees

Photography permits are subject to a fee based on the day, time, number of subjects, and purpose of the session. Complete the form below to begin the process.

Terms and Conditions

Portrait and commercial photography are by appointment only. Requests must be submitted at least two (2) weeks prior to the desired permit date. Additional terms and requirements will be outlined in the permit agreement. Props and drones are NOT permitted unless specifically authorized.

Casual Personal Photography

Casual personal photography for non-commercial use is permitted during regular visits and does not require a photography permit. Tripods, lighting equipment, props, drones, products or additional setup beyond basic handheld devices are NOT permitted unless specifically authorized.

Prom

Old Westbury Gardens welcomes the opportunity to be a part of your prom photoshoot. To ensure a seamless experience for all guests, we have established the following guidelines:

  • Limit of two (2) limousines per photo permit
  • Limit of one (1) photographer per photo permit
  • Maximum of 20 individuals on the property with the permit
  • Fee of $350 for a 90-minute session

Please note: The photography permit policy was created to protect the grounds and the artwork, both inside and outdoors. Additionally, the policy allows the Gardens to control the number of photography shoots on the grounds at one time to lessen the disruptions of scheduled events. Fees directly support the mission of Old Westbury Gardens.
