Bat Walk

August 16 @ 8:00 pm 9:30 pm

,

Join us for an evening at Old Westbury Gardens as we explore the fascinating world of bats! Wildlife biologist Nic Comparato will guide us in learning how bats use echolocation to navigate the night and hunt for insects. You’ll listen for bat calls with specialized equipment, search the skies for their silhouettes, and discuss their important role in local ecosystems and ongoing conservation efforts.

Nic Comparato is a wildlife biologist specializing in bats and bioacoustics. They study bats by recording and analyzing their sonar. Nic is currently an associate field biologist with NYC Bird Alliance (formerly NYC Audubon) and a PhD student with the Aronson Lab for Urban Ecology at Rutgers University. Their research is focused on uncovering the strategies bats use to move through New York City during migration.
