Preservation Matters
It is hard to believe it has been two years since Old Westbury Gardens celebrated the 60th Anniversary as a public garden and historic site. Like you, this year has been about reflection and renewal as we managed through a global health crisis that has affected all of our lives.
During this time, the Gardens has remained focused on its mission – to protect and preserve one of the region’s leading historic and cultural institutions. As a vital community asset, preservation matters now more than ever.
As the year draws to a close Old Westbury Gardens pauses to acknowledge the progress of preservation achievements. As guardians of a legacy, maintaining the exceptional qualities of Old Westbury Gardens is paramount.
The Gardens hoped to be back in the Red Ballroom this year for the December Dinner, but once again, we will gather outside to admire the brightest star of the night – the newly restored Westbury House, and reflect on opportunities for the future.
Significant features throughout the Gardens including collections cares and archives conservation, garden statuary and the Westbury House Restoration Project all need your support.
As our closest friends, your contributions to Old Westbury Gardens have fostered the spirit and legacy of the Gardens. It is our responsibility, as stewards of this treasure, to preserve these 200 acres of beautiful landscapes and historic house as an important link between past and present. We thank you for the trust and confidence you have put in us in preserving Old Westbury Gardens.
If you cannot attend the event on November 19, please consider donating to the Preservation of Old Westbury Gardens. The door is always open for you to come visit the house, walk the grounds, and learn more about specific preservation plans.
