Girl Scouts Chorus of Nassau County Concert

Since 1988, Girl Scouts of Nassau County has had the great fortune to have a chorus composed of girls ages 8 to 17 years old. Over the years, the chorus has been featured at various events such as at Mets and Jets games, and various local venues. The GSNC Chorus’ greatest achievement thus far is providing the vocals for “True Colors,” a Dove commercial that was aired during the 2006 Super Bowl.

In addition, for the Girl Scouts’ 95th National Anniversary in 2007, the GSNC Chorus was given the opportunity to travel to Washington DC to sing on the Washington Mall for over 300.000 people. Now, after a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic, under the musical direction of Catherine Azzara and Jennifer Azzara, the GSNC chorus is gathering once again to lift their voices and bring smiles to our faces.

Holiday favorites will be performed in the Red Ballroom. No reservations required but seating is limited.

Included with admission.

Poetica Musica: Two Romanitic Guitars SOLD OUT but Live Stream Available

Old Westbury Gardens and Poetica Musica present “Two  Romantic Guitars” featuring the Anderson/Fader Guitar Duo, guitarists William Anderson and Oren Fader. The duo will perform the Spanish Dances by Enrique Granados, Duos for two lutes by John Dowland, the Grand Duo by Joseph Haydn and more.

The concert is sold out but we will live stream the performance.

Rain date is Sunday, August 23.

For the past 20 years the Anderson/Fader Guitar Duo has been heard in concerts, festivals and Master Classes throughout the US, Latin America and Europe, both as a duo and as members of the award-winning Cygnus Ensemble. Guitar Review magazine noted that “Anderson and Fader are expert chamber musicians with a perfect sense of timing, virtuosity and a sensitivity to nuance.” Reviewing the Duo's premiere performance of a commissioned work by Milton Babbitt, the NY Times reported that: "His melodies leap freely around the fret board, and his rhythms are complex and perilous. Yet Mr. Anderson and Mr. Fader played the work from memory, and gave an impressive account of it." The Duo champions the work of living American composers.  Now based in New York City, the Duo has performed with many presenters and organizations, most notably with James Levine and the Metropolitan Opera Chamber Players at Zankel Hall and was in residence at the Library of Congress in the winter of 2012. Ongoing residencies include the CUNY Graduate Center and Sarah Lawrence College.
